Our Salt City Shakers just wrapped up a double header bout against Ft. Collins' FoCo Girls Gone Derby, followed by a league match between The Leave it to Cleavers and Bomber Babes. Though the winners in both bouts were clearly obvious, it was an incredible display of athletics and sportsmanship between these teams. This Saturday, June 12, 2010, the Salt City Derby Girls will host their third double header bout of the 2010 season at the Salt Palace. The all-star team, Salt City Shakers will take on a traveling opponent in a WFTDA sanctioned match against FoCo Girls Gone Derby (Fort Collins, Colorado). The bout will begin at 6:00 pm, followed by a bout between Salt City Derby Girls home teams, the Bomber Babes vs. The Leave it To Cleavers. There's been an additional bout added to the Salt City Derby Girls schedule. The Salt City Shakers are playing against Emerald City from Eugene Oregon this coming Saturday May 29th at Taylorsville Recreation Center: 4948 South 2700 West, Taylorsville, Utah. Tickets will be available at the rec center this Thursday from 8-10pm during their practice, or at the door the night of the event. This weekend's Salt City Derby bout had all four home teams on the track and gave a preview of how this season could turn out. Sisters of No Mercy battled the 2008 & 2009 champions Leave it to Cleavers, and Death Dealers took on the Bomber Babes in the second bout.  In the first bout, Sisters of No Mercy wasted no time taking the lead, and maintained a narrow lead ending the half up 37-25. It was a long and tough night at the Salt Palace this past Saturday. Our Salt City Roller Derby held a double-header bout, first match against the Lava City Smokin' Ashes, then a league match between Death Dealers and Sisters of No Mercy. Lava City struck first blood, taking a 5-point lead in their first jam, but Salt City struck right back, holding a slim lead through most of the first half.
